Dr Gillian Schofield is Professor of Child and Family Social Work and Head of the School of Social Work at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in the United Kingdom. She was an experienced social worker before joining UEA in 1990. She teaches on the qualifying and post qualifying social work programmes and supervises PhD students. Her research and writing interests are in:
- long term foster care
- attachment
- contact
- youth and offending
- care planning
- LGBTIQ+ young people in care.
With Dr Mary Beek, she has developed the Secure Base Model, an attachment and resilience based framework for caregiving in foster care and adoption. Gillian has written extensively on practice including 2 books, both published by CoramBAAF:
