Brendan became the Head of Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) in 2019. In his role he works closely with teachers, leaders and school support staff to improve school culture, and to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students.
Prior to this, Brendan was Positive Education Leader at Buckley Park College where he was responsible for sharing positive education with the students, teachers, and the broader community. Through this work, Brendan became secretary for the Victorian chapter of the Positive Education Schools Association.
He also taught history over 8 years in alternative settings, including numerous schools in the suburbs of Melbourne and at Enterprise Alternative School in Montreal, Quebec. Through these roles Brendan developed an expertise in helping students succeed in classroom environments, with a particular interest in students with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder.
As part of his Graduate Diploma of Education at the University of Melbourne, Brendan was part of the Problem-Based Learning module, which worked with schools on educational issues. Brendan worked in conjunction with Princes Hill Secondary College on the issue of organisational and cultural change in educational settings. Years later, he continued and extended this work while studying the Masters of Applied Positive Psychology at the University of Melbourne, focusing his work on Systems Inspired Positive Psychology.
