Emma Toone is a consultant child psychotherapist, council member of the Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australia, and past president of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Association for Infant Mental Health. Alongside her private consultancy work, she provides psychotherapy supervision at the Mindful Centre for Training and Research in Developmental Health, Department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne; and is an honorary researcher with the Judith Lumley Centre for Mother, Infant and Family Health, La Trobe University.
Emma has a particular interest in the application of psychoanalytic intervention across community and health settings. This includes brief and long-term models of dyadic engagement with children and families, and the facilitation of reflective supervision for professional wellbeing.
In Berry Street, Emma’s work has spanned direct practice, clinical leadership, service design, research and public policy advocacy on behalf of children and their caring adults affected by violence and trauma. In her current role she supports Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) implementation within Berry Street and builds partnerships to support CPP expansion within Australia.
