Children's Contact Service

The Children's Contact Service (CCS) is an independent service that aims to provide a safe place for changeovers and supervised visits for children of separated parents.*  The primary concern of the staff is the safety and wellbeing of the children.

Our staff understand the difficulties that are often experienced during and after separation. They aim to provide a fair and practical service for changeovers and contact visits.

The CCS works to promote positive interaction between children and their parents, and to support the strengthening of their relationships, when in the child's interest.

*The term ‘parent' is interchangeable with significant person in the child's life. It may include grandparents, relatives or other people important to the child.

How to apply

  • Family members, lawyers or Community Agency Workers can telephone the Children's Contact Service direct for information and forms.

  • Both parents need to complete an application form and further information may need to be obtained from other professionals as part of the Intake Assessment Process.

  • Once the forms from both parties have been received and all criteria met, each parent is invited for separate interviews to discuss their application, the service guidelines and their children's particular needs.

  • If the criteria to use the service has been met, parents may be put on a waiting list.

  • When a vacancy becomes available, both parents will be contacted and the children will be invited to meet the staff and familiarise themselves with the service.
