Philanthropy for impact at Berry Street

At Berry Street, we believe children, young people and families should be safe, thriving and hopeful. We exist to help those experiencing poverty, violence and abuse, and to help families stay together in safe and healthy homes so they can create the future they imagine for themselves.

Partnering with Berry Street enables us to deliver our purpose with like-minded individuals and organisations. We are proud of our existing partnerships and acknowledge that investment from philanthropy has provided evidence-based research to attract government funding. We know that together, we can deliver transformative change.

Transformational programs supported by philanthropy

Thanks to the vision and collaboration of our philanthropic partners, we have invested in a brighter future for many Victorians. With philanthropic funding we have been able to:

  • Heal trauma: Supporting Victorian children, young people and families to get the right support to recover from trauma.
  • Address family violence: Ensuring that victim-survivors of family violence can access support and safety, recover and feel safe again.
  • Provide safe homes: As more children are being removed from home than ever before, we're providing them with safe and nurturing homes through our out-of-home care programs (foster, kinship and residential care).
  • Deliver trauma-informed education: Expanding the delivery of our education programs – the Berry Street Education Model and the Berry Street School – to help all children across Australia achieve their full potential in the future.
  • Provide proactive care for families and communities: Helping children and families at an earlier stage, to ensure they’re in safe homes and connected communities.

Our successful partnership with Dr Tom Brunzell and the Berry Street Education Model is grounded in our shared commitment to fresh ideas and innovative work. Over our years of collaboration, we've built a relationship based on trust and honest dialogue. We continue to be impressed with Tom and his team who are doing groundbreaking work in education.
