The Aboriginal Gathering Place
The Aboriginal Gathering Place (TGP) Morwell is on the traditional lands of the Brayakauloong people. With full hearts, we thank the Gunaikurnai people for embracing us. We pay respect to their Elders past, stand with Elders present, and celebrate the emerging Elders whose wisdom will light the way for generations to come. Every time we gather, we do so in deep reverence for Country.
Walking beside the Traditional Custodians of this land is an honour and a responsibility we cherish. We listen. We learn. We keep our spirits entwined with their lore, songlines, and living stories that pulse beneath our feet.
TGP is more than a meeting place; it is a cultural sanctuary where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people can reunite, share knowledge, laugh, heal, and grow together. Here, the community leads the way, shaping the spaces and activities they need to live vibrant, healthy, joy-filled lives.
Koorie Programs at The Aboriginal Gathering Place
These programs play an essential role in strengthening the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the Gunaikurnai region. Grounded in Culture, they support individuals, families, and community to stay connected, build resilience, and actively participate in the social, cultural, and economic life of community.
At the heart of this work are the Looking After Our Own Mob activities—the core programs of The Aboriginal Gathering Place. These initiatives uplift and support our community, especially our young people and children, through culturally grounded activities that strengthen identity, build connection, and empower future generations, ensuring Culture remains strong and continues to thrive.
