Frequently asked questions

The Cradle Mountain trek is ranked 3/5. While no extensive trekking experience is required prior to registering and beginners are certainly welcome, our adventures are designed for people who are relatively fit and willing to train. The trek is a physical challenge, and the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the experience. You can expect the days to vary from easy exploration walks to day-long hikes over rough terrain of up to 10km. You should be able to walk comfortably for 6 to 8 hours over consecutive days. You will be well supported on the adventure, with the guides and your team all cheering you on. You are free to walk at your own pace and we will take frequent breaks.

We believe small group travel is better for the planet and better for you. Our adventures average between 10 to 20 participants, all connected by their commitment to the greater good.

On this trek, you’ll be staying in 3-star cabin style accommodation based on twin share. The best thing about it is that you won’t have to move! We’ll be staying at the same accommodation each night and travelling on a different trek each day. This means you won’t have to carry much food or other necessities – which makes this trek great for beginners.

Of course! We welcome group registrations. In fact, most participants join our treks with someone else – it's a great way to do something you’ll always remember with a loved one.

The entire adventure is in the breathtaking alpine landscape of the Cradle Mountain valley. There will be four separate treks, one each day, ranging from 6km to 10km long. The first is from Launceston to Cradle Mountain National Park, the second day will be to Hansons Peak, the third will be taking in the breathtaking views from Marion’s Lookout, and on the last day we will be trekking Dove Lake Circuit.

Of course, most people do! Throughout your adventure journey, we will connect you with your fellow adventurers so you can get to know each other before you hit the road.

The minimum age for this adventure is 18, however younger ages are considered on application. We have had participants aged 12-84+ take part in our challenges, all united by their sense of philanthropy and adventure. The most important pre-requisite is that each person can walk for 6 to 8 hours over four consecutive days.

Of course, we will happily arrange for any dietary requirements you’ve noted during booking to be catered for. Please advise your local guide on Day 1 as well. You will be fed very well while you’re on the adventure (with most of your meals included in your registration price), but if you have very specific dietary requirements or severe allergies, it’s best to pack some extra things as a back-up.
