We’re so excited to share with you Adam’s* wonderful achievement!
Adam experienced significant trauma throughout his life.
His mother passed away when he was young, and his father is serving a lengthy prison sentence.
Two years ago, after many different placements in foster care and residential care, Adam was placed with carers who he now calls “my family”.
Recently, he took an important step towards establishing his independence by securing his own place to live. But he continues to receive fantastic support from his carers - including still having his own key to their place so he can visit whenever he wants – just like any family home.
It's another reminder of how important it is for young people to have a reliable support network and a secure base, which is critical for big life steps and stages.
It shows the tremendous positive impact foster and kinship carers can have on young lives. Congratulations Adam!
