2024 sees us continuing our partnership with the Department for Education Trauma Aware Schools Initiative (TASI) team. Through TASI, BSEM currently works with 75 schools across the state, allowing us to engage with teachers and school leaders who are passionate about the students they serve and the communities they work with. It is a huge undertaking and brings us closer to achieving our mission to empower educators to gain new perspectives, skills, and strategies to increase engagement with learning.

We are also excited to introduce Kate Lose to the BSEM community, our newest South Australian BSEM Consultant. Kate comes to us from the Catholic sector, with previous experience in government, independent and international schools. As Head of Pastoral Care across a large multi-campus R–10 site, Kate has led proactive whole-school wellbeing approaches grounded in strengths-based practice, including creation of a podcast series to educate and strengthen partnerships across the school community. She has an exceptional ability to make connections with educators and brings joyful learning to the training room. We can’t wait for you to meet her.

Kate’s appointment grows our SA Consulting team to four experienced and talented educators in SA, who love working with local schools from all sectors across the state. In 2024, we’re partnering with many new schools and continuing to support implementation and review with our existing partners. In addition, we now have increased capacity to deliver Masterclasses and targeted workshops to expand the range of practical, classroom-based strategies that support student engagement, including for students with complex, unmet learning needs.
