For the first time in three years, Run Melbourne returned to the streets of Melbourne this year, attracting runners from all walks of life, including Berry Street staff member, Nadia.

A teacher at Berry Street’s Side by Side program, Nadia was excited to swap her work shoes for her runners, to train for the iconic event.

Side by Side aims to improve school attendance, engagement and learning outcomes for some of Victoria’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

Nadia has witnessed first-hand the success of the program, which inspired her to fundraise for Berry Street.

What inspired you to support Berry Street?

I work for Berry Street and am proud of the work we do so it was great to be able to run wearing the logo and have people be curious about the organisation.

What were your highlights from this event?

Melbourne absolutely turned the weather on for the day so we could have a dry-ish event!

I was proud to know so many people were willing to support me, and this gave me a reason to push myself in training for Run Melbourne. I've honestly developed a better mindset for having had this goal and that is amazing.
