Berry Street’s Take Two program has been recognised with the Health Service Partnership Award at Deakin University’s 2026 Faculty of Health Partnerships in Practice Awards.

The award was presented to Dr Ali Fogarty from the Deakin Lifespan Institute in recognition of her partnership with Take Two and its contribution to strengthening therapeutic support for children and families affected by trauma.

Take Two is Berry Street Yooralla’s trauma service for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, violence or other developmental trauma. Over the past seven years, Take Two has worked with Deakin University’s Dr Ali Fogarty and Professor Rebecca Giallo to build the evidence base for therapeutic support for children and families impacted by family violence.

Most recently, the partnership has focused on collecting an Australian evidence base about Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). CPP is a relationship-centred approach that supports healing for young children and caregivers who have experienced trauma, including family violence, abuse and neglect. Take Two are the largest employer of staff accredited in this evidence-based intervention in Australia.

This collaboration supported Take Two’s success in securing ongoing funding for our Restoring Childhood service, which provided support to more than 400 children and families affected by family violence in the past year.

The long-term partnership has been invaluable, and we deeply appreciate Ali and Rebecca’s expertise.

Learn more about the partnership and its impact through Deakin Health’s video featuring Take Two Clinical Manager, Dr Lyn Radford.

Together, Take Two and Deakin are strengthening the evidence base for trauma-informed therapeutic practice, and proving that what we are doing really does help children recover.  helping more children and families access the support they need.
