Overview

This workshop builds on the content of Take Two’s Facilitating Reflective Practice Workshop to assist group facilitators to develop advanced skills in facilitation that are critically-minded and anti-oppressive in nature. Participants are provided with opportunity to think about commonly emerging themes and challenges, and the range of psycho-dynamic and other approaches that assist in identifying and responding to them. Exploration will occur of the organisational and individual pre-requisites required for deeper critical thinking in the group setting. Two new models that move beyond reflective practice, to reflexive practice, will also be considered. Facilitated reflective discussion is used to complement the workshop content, assisting learners to apply key concepts to their own practice.

Key learnings

  • identify and respond to commonly emerging group dynamics
  • know the pre-requisites of critical, self-aware (reflexive) thinking
  • use anti-oppressive and inclusive approaches to facilitation
  • apply two new anti-oppressive frameworks to the facilitation RP groups.

Further information on different reflective practice models which was great. Again, provided clarification around the purpose of reflective practice sessions, differentiating between reflective practice sessions, debriefing and supervision. Jessamy was extremely knowledgeable in this area and was great to see them use some of these skills whilst facilitating, great modelling.
