Berry Street recently spoke with the Veith Foundation about what drives their giving, including a vision to see more young people building the confidence to succeed.

What inspires you to give?

Life is full of opportunities. Some people are lucky enough to be raised in a family that helps them identify those opportunities and have the courage to convert them into achievements. However, many are not so lucky.

We are inspired to support Berry Street because we believe they can assist young people whose upbringing has provided more challenges than vision.

Veith Foundation

What are you hoping to see as a result of your philanthropy?

We hope to see young people graduating from school with sufficient confidence to identify the opportunities that can lead to their success in life.

Why have you chosen a family approach in your gift decision-making?

We wish to instil in current and future generations of the family the realisation that we have the resources to assist others less fortunate than ourselves. We are establishing a junior board (made up of 8 to 18-year-olds) and providing them with a small budget so they can become involved in giving at an early age.

What interests you most about Berry Street as an organisation?

Our foundation prioritises funding of projects that are measurable and produce clear specific results. Berry Street has been able to provide us with high-impact projects that fit within our budget.
