When a child has experienced trauma, neglect, or lives with neurodiversity, a traditional classroom can feel like a circus of noise and overwhelming social pressure.
Noah* is curious, thoughtful and loves figuring out how things work. Give him a problem to solve, especially if it involves numbers or building something with his hands, and he lights up!
Because of childhood trauma, neglect, and undiagnosed neurodiversity, Noah found it hard to reach his full potential at school. Busy, noisy mainstream classrooms felt like a threat, leading to overwhelming anxiety and eventually, being suspended from multiple schools.
It doesn’t have to be this way for kids like Noah. At Berry Street, we know that when the environment changes, a child can thrive. That’s why all donations will be doubled** until 19 March to help build a new campus for the Berry Street School in Morwell. Every dollar you give to support our "Campus of Care" will be matched!
Our new Campus of Care will be specifically designed for students who need trauma-informed education. Many students at the Berry Street School cope with the trauma of family violence, abuse and unsafe homes. All of this can have significant impacts on a young person's learning.
This is why we need your help to build a Campus of Care. Have your donation doubled now.
