EnergyAustralia, a major corporate partner of Berry Street, has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability by generously installing solar panels on some of our properties. This collaborative effort has resulted in a noteworthy reduction in energy costs, thereby enhancing the capacity of programs to provide essential resources to some of Victoria’s most vulnerable children and young people.

Commencing in 2019, EnergyAustralia installed solar panels at 23 properties, including our regional office in Morwell and the Berry Street School campuses in Morwell and Ballarat. Notably, this installation includes six battery units, contributing to a total energy output of 210 kilowatts—equivalent to the energy required to operate 28 washing machines daily.

The realised cost savings have been allocated to support Berry Street’s Mother-Infant Village, a program dedicated to offering refuge and recovery to victim survivors of family violence.

It’s fantastic that this initiative has not only reduced our energy bills but also our carbon footprint. This means we can direct more of our funds toward supporting children, young people and families in need. A huge thank you to EnergyAustralia for their generous support.
