Intensive Case Management Service (ICMS) provides intensive, long-term support to young people with complex needs.

ICMS often works:

  • in areas of high socioeconomic disadvantage
  • with intergenerational cycles of poverty, violence and significant trauma.

How it works

Young people often enter ICMS in a state of crisis. Case managers use a range of skills to build a relationship with, advocate for and provide the right support for the young person.

This might involve:

  • helping the young person develop and maintain positive relationships
  • helping in interactions with the justice system
  • engaging with legal services
  • supporting the young person to understand and navigate other systems and processes.

Outcomes

ICMS seeks to empower young people away from their trauma, towards a sense of safety and a feeling of support.

It aims to help young people:

  • reduce high risk behaviour
  • increase stability in their life
  • develop resilience and protective behaviours
  • build self-esteem and life skills
  • develop meaningful relationships.
