Holly's story

Home Based Care team leader Holly

Holly Ames started at Berry Street in 2017 and moved into her current role as Team Leader, Home-Based Care, in our South Eastern region in 2019.

Holly oversees 6 Case Managers who provide training and assessment of new foster carers. The team supports both the children and young people in care, as well as the carers themselves. This helps make the placement as beneficial and long-lasting as possible.

For Holly and the team, the Berry Street value of Courage is about advocating for what’s in the best interest of our clients.

It takes courage challenging the status quo. Some people will say we've always done it that way. Well, why?

Holly explains that one of the reasons she enjoys coming into work is the supportive atmosphere:

“I really do love my role. A lot of that is about the work itself, but we really do help each other out. It can be stressful sometimes but having that great support around you is a big help.

“[Working for Berry Street] you feel that you’re a part of something worthwhile and that we’re making a difference. I think that draws people back every day.”
