A ‘student-centred’ educator, Doug’s passion is in cultural change and championing kindness and restorative practices. Over his extensive career he has held the positions of Principal, Vice Principal, Head of School, Monash University educator and most recently Head of Middle School. A keen sportsperson in his ‘prime’, Doug represented Victoria in both rowing and football before pursuing a professional career with the St Kilda Football Club. Since retiring from active participation, he has coached numerous sporting teams and is currently an AFL Regional Commissioner representing the ASFLSE (South East) and chair for the South East Juniors (SEJ). Together with his wife Maria, Doug has 6 children, who are the inspiration for many humorous stories and the occasional cautionary tale.
A life-long learner, Doug is currently studying a double degree; Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Conflict Resolution. “In a world where you can choose to be anything – choose to be kind”.
